The Castillo Game

In a surprising move, Nate Lahey had killed Xavier Castillo and left his body to be found. So far, the body has not been unearthed, but what is Nate playing at? The man has a devious plan. First, Nate had the FBI turn on each other by reporting Pollack to be a Castillo lackey. In this episode of How to Get Away with Murder, Nate meets Jorge Castillo (Esai Morales) in prison and pleads with Jorge to testify against the governor. Jorge will get a reduced sentence, and the governor can’t hurt anyone else like she hurt Nate’s father.

To nudge Jorge in the right direction, Nate gives away Xavier’s location, and his death is reported all over the news. Jorge is crushed, and Nate pushes him to do the right thing. He insists that the governor was behind Xavier’s death, and worse will happen if Jorge doesn’t act now. Smart move, Nate. Will Jorge take the bait?

The third Castillo in the mix, Laurel, is the lynchpin for Annalise. If Laurel’s testimony echoes Connor and Michaela’s, Annalise is done for. So, she and Frank Delfino ambush Laurel. Annalise pleads with Laurel to be a good person, a person who her son will love. If Laurel lies in court, Christopher will grow up hating her just as Laurel hates her father. But Laurel’s choice is hard to make – the FBI will lock her up, and she’ll lose Christopher if she turns against them.

When Laurel takes the stand, she follows the script before changing her mind. She apologizes to Annalise and explains she was coerced by FBI Agent Langford to falsely testify against her mentor. Laurel pins the blame on Wes and his ‘mental illness.’ Annalise may not have the case in the bag, but the jury has plenty to doubt the veracity of the testimonies provided.
