Dead to Me Season 2, Episode 5 recap: Jen reaches her breaking point
By Mads Lennon
Jen reaches her breaking point in Dead to Me Season 2, Episode 5 as she recalls everything Steve said to her before his death. Judy bonds with Michelle.
We’re at the half-way mark of Dead to Me Season 2, and for a moment it looks like Jen and Judy might be in the clear now that Slade the exterminator has taken the old freezer that once held Steve’s body. But then there is the problem of Charlie and Steve’s car, which we will get into farther into the recap.
The episode begins with Jen and Judy doing some grocery shopping for wine and paella ingredients while Judy talks about the “energetic shift” caused by her sending the petrified rock back to the National Park.
Unfortunately, things come crashing down when Jen’s card gets rejected. I was wondering when that might happen considering she isn’t doing great at her job and she just paid for a two-night stay in a presidential suite.

At the house, Jen peruses her bills and her monumental home mortgage payment. She’s feeling the crunch in a big way and Judy is starting to get under Jen’s skin a little, as she labels her a little “co-dependy,” and asks for some space.
Judy tries to get out of Jen’s way by paying a visit to the TKG Art studio, which is soon going be turned into an Arby’s.
She turns to Ben for lunch and to lament her sadness over losing her paintings and now the studio. She asks Ben if he knows where they are because she wants to sell them.
Ben then tells Judy that she was right about Mexico. The FBI has footage of Steve crossing the border in a white truck. Ben thinks they can find Steve, get him to cooperate, and send the FBI after a much bigger fish to cut him a deal.
“He’ll be okay,” says Ben optimistically. Yeah… about that…
