Dead to Me Season 2, Episode 5 recap: Jen reaches her breaking point

Judy bonds more with Michelle

Well, then Judy puts her foot in her mouth as she’s so good at doing and accidentally lets slip that Steve really screwed Jen over financially a few days ago by pulling out of a condo deal suddenly. Of course Ben latches on to “a few days ago,”  and Judy tries to undo the damage, but it’s too late.

Judy has a meltdown in the bathroom, a little similar to the experience she had in the first season. She berates herself for not keeping her mouth shut. In the middle of her tantrum, Michelle (Natalie Morales) walks in and realizes she’s having a hard time. Funnily enough, so is Michelle. She offers to “drink about” their bad days instead of talking out their problems.

Michelle takes Judy to a fancy restaurant, one that Judy has always wanted to try and surprise! Michelle is the chef there and she is very interested in Judy. There is no denying that these two are flirting and I love it. Natalie Morales is super charming and she and Linda Cardellini have great chemistry.

Between feeding Judy polenta and complimenting her looks, it couldn’t be more obvious that Michelle is vibing on Judy. They bond over their shared love of cooking and interest in astrology.

Then Michelle reveals that her mom keeps calling her ex-girlfriend to complain about her, that’s why she was so upset earlier and it’s a clever way for the show to reveal she’s gay. Michelle also wants to know if Judy is single, and once she gets her answer she offers Judy a moonstone since it turns out she’s into crystals as well!
