In episode 6 of Netflix series V Wars, Dr. Swann worries his son will change into a vampire. Also, a number of people die, which probably wouldn’t surprise anyone.

Previously on V Wars, the war of humans vs. vampires was starting to take off. Also, more was learned of the genetic cause behind vampirism, and Dr. Luther Swann (Ian Somerhalder) shot a man named Walker (Jonathan Koensgen), who had been sent by Bobby (Greg Bryk0 to kill the good doctor.

When this episode begins, however, the Dr. isn’t so good, as he finishes the job he started with Walker, thanks to the Department of National Security. But is it real or just a dream?

That aside, Swann is worried about his son Dez (Kyle Breitkopf) turning into a vampire. At this point, Luther doesn’t know if his son has the “NH47 predator gene.” Dr. Swann also makes a tentative plan for himself, his son, and Teresa (Samantha Liana Cole), pretending Dez’s abscess tooth as a medical cover.

Later, Dr. Swann finds that his son indeed has the gene, meaning he’ll likely turn into a bloodthirsty vampire who can barely control his impulses. Teresa and Dez may have snuck out to find Luther’s colleague, Dr. Paul Permucci (Raoul Bhaneja), but they quickly see that Permucci is himself a vampire, seeing a bunch of blood bags around his house.

Although Dez escapes, Permucci successfully attacks Teresa, biting her throat and extracting whatever blood he’ll need to make it through the day.

Failed attempts

Dr. Swann fails to escape the DNS compound. However, one of their main people, Calix Niklos (Peter Outerbridge), says he will help Swann escape until simpleton General May (Jonathan Higgins) is replaced. So, basically, Swann has a tentative ally. Of course, V Wars has already established some shifty alliances, so we already understand that he might not be trustworthy.

On that note, blogger Kaylee Vo (Jacky Lai) has arranged to meet Niklos, after her accomplice, Jergen (Teddy Moynihan), hacked into their vulnerable computer systems. Kaylee believes Niklos engineered the murder of Claire O’Hagan (Kandyse McClure). However, when she goes into an abandoned building to meet Niklos, he is nowhere to be found. Then, when she gets back to their vehicle, Jergen has been shot in the head.

Another one bites the dust

V Wars hasn’t forgotten about Jimmy Saint (Michael Greyeyes), the FBI guy who’s infiltrated Bobby’s gang. Bobby does not trust Jimmy, believing he might be a Blood (a vampire, in other words). Under the guise of ceremoniously promoting Jimmy by giving him their gang’s jacket, Bobby pulls out a gun. However, Jimmy is quick to shoot Bobby. Rather than retaliate against Jimmy, the gang respects his move as self-defense.

However, they do tell him to get on his “ride” and disappear, which he does swiftly. Then Jimmy is ordered to find Dr. Swann, though he is still held by the DNS. Jimmy does catch a break, though, as Dr. Swann is driven to a wooded location by Niklos. In a weird twist, though, Niklos sends someone out to apparently either track or kill Dr. Swann. Basically, this episode of V Wars is a bit confusing, perhaps by intent of design.

Fayne has standards

Despite being the leader of the vampiric Bloods, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes) still has a human side. He helps Dani (Kimberly-Sue Murray) address her wound by giving her a lichen patch. He has also established some ground rules for the Bloods, assuring they won’t become an absolute free-for-all. Also, Dr. Swann still believes Fayne can be saved, which is partly why Swann’s in trouble for contacting him without DNS authorization.

On top of all this, Fayne is upset with fellow vampires for staging an attack on a funeral, taking offense at their slaying of children. Of course, one might ask, “Should we really worry if those slain are 8 or 80?” but one supposes it’s good that anyone is spared, whatever the reason.
