Annalise lost her get-out-of-jail-free card. In the How to Get Away with Murder series finale, the show ends with death, love and hope.

In the How to Get Away with Murder series finale, we say goodbye to the cast for good. For six years, this series has been our weekly fix of chaotic drama with Viola Davis charging ahead as the phenomenal and indomitable Annalise Keating.

This final season has been an uphill ride for Annalise, with the sins of her past – or rather, the sins of those in her life – coming back to haunt her. In the penultimate episode of the series, Annalise’s hopes of winning her trial were dashed when her former sister-in-law, Hannah, was found dead. What does the finale have in store for this exceptional character?

Frank Doesn’t Give a Damn

Bonnie Winterbottom wanted no more secrets between her and Frank Delfino, so she blurted out that he was the secret love-child of Sam and Hannah Keating’s incestuous affair.

This was the final nail in Frank’s coffin. He has done terrible things in his life, including crashing into Annalise’s car, thereby killing her unborn child (who would have been Frank’s half-brother); as well as killing Lila Stangard when she was carrying Sam’s child (another half-sibling!). Let’s just say, it’s a lot for a man to take.

Bonnie, in the meantime, is distraught. The revelation about his family drove Frank away and now Bonnie is left needing him when he’s not around. When Frank doesn’t take her calls, Bonnie heads to the only person she believes Frank would run to – Laurel Castillo. Though Laurel hasn’t seen Frank, she comforts Bonnie that they belong together and that Bonnie deserves love and happiness.

Frank goes AWOL in an attempt to unearth every shred of evidence Hannah might have kept of Frank’s existence. In the bargain, he finds a valuable piece of evidence that could help Annalise’s case. Frank barely keeps it together as he hands the flash drive to Annalise and she has to console him that he’s a better man than his biological father.

In an attempt to make amends, Frank offers the last of the hush money he had left to Gabriel Maddox. Why doesn’t Frank keep the money for himself? We’ll find out. But why does he choose Gabriel, of all people? Frank did threaten to kill him once, but more than anything, Gabriel is Frank’s only living blood relative. My guess is, instead of giving the blood money to the family who loved and raised him – the Delfinos – Frank hands it over to someone who is also tainted by the Keating drama.
