The Mandalorian: Timothy Olyphant joins the Star Wars show

Timothy Olyphant is the latest actor to join the Star Wars universe. He has been cast in an unknown role for the second season of The Mandalorian.

We’ve still got a few months to wait for The Mandalorian to air its second season on Disney Plus, and a new cast member has been announced. Timothy Olyphant, star of Deadwood and Justified, has joined the show in an unnamed role. Who could he be playing?

It has already been announced that Rosario Dawson will be starring as Ahsoka Tano on The Mandalorian and that Temuera Morrison is returning to the franchise with a brief appearance as Boba Fett. It is possible that Olyphant will be playing a new character on the show, or could he be stepping into the shoes of an existing character?

Given Olyphant’s penchant for playing gunslingers, he may have been cast as a fellow Mandalorian. Many of the Mandalorian bounty hunters were killed by the end of the first season, but some escaped. We can also imagine that some members of the Guild were away on missions and could be featured on the show. Time will tell if our theories are correct.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal as the titular protagonist determined to protect ‘The Child’ from harm. Along the way, Mando was ably supported by former Rebel shock trooper Cara Dune (Gina Carano) and Guild agent Greef Karga (Carl Weathers). The first season ended with the team on the run and a new villain on the horizon.

Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito), a remnant of the Imperial Guard, had failed to capture the Child. However, he was in possession of the deadly Darksaber, leading to the possibility that story arcs and characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars could be featured on the show.
