The Politician Season 2: First look, episode count, premiere date, and more
By Mads Lennon
Netflix’s frothy, campy, satirical Ryan Murphy project The Politician Season 2 is returning to our screens next month, find out the exact date and more.
Earlier today, TVLine reported that Netflix had finally released the first-look photos and release date for The Politician Season 2. Fans don’t have to wait much longer to see the show’s sophomore season, which is set to debut on June 19.
From Netflix, we’ve learned the Season 2 synopsis. Payton Hobart (Ben Platt) will be locked in a battle against Judith Light’s Dede Standish for a seat on the New York State Senate. Dede’s campaign should have been a walk in the park, especially with her tough-as-nails Chief of Staff, Hadassah Gold (Bette Midler) in her corner.

But Payton proves he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get the position, even if that means playing dirty. However, Payton has his own problems to worry about, mainly in the form of his mother Georgina Hobart (Gwyneth Paltrow), who makes a decision that could upstage him.
“But if Payton wants to rise above petty politics and succeed without compromising his character, he must find his voice and strengthen his political message to inspire and excite the voters,” the synopsis concludes.
Beyond the plot, we also know that The Politician Season 2 will only consist of seven episodes, which is one less than season one’s eight-episode count.
Aside from Platt, Midler, Paltrow, and Light, the series also stars Lucy Boynton, Zoey Deutch, Julia Schlaepfer, Laura Dreyfuss, Theo Germaine, Rahne Jones, David Corenswet, Ryan Haddad, Sam Jaeger, Teddy Sears, Joe Morton, Benjamin Barrett, Jackie Hoffman, Trey Eason, and Trevor Mahlon Eason.
We do not yet have a trailer to share, but Netflix did release several new images, which you can view yourself below. With the season due to release next month, we’ll likely see an official trailer within the next few weeks.
