Mythic Quest quarantine special: The antidote we need right now
By Mads Lennon
The Mythic Quest quarantine special was everything we needed right now.
Fans of Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet have been without new content for a while now while we wait for the show’s second season. During the shutdown, the team got together to create a Mythic Quest quarantine special that managed to be everything we needed to make us feel better amid this difficult time.
The Mythic Quest quarantine special is both sweet and hilarious.
The episode featured the entire cast of characters we’ve come to know and love as the actors filmed all of their parts while under lockdown. It starts with David trying to get the team together on a video chat but struggling to get Ian, Poppy, and their warring egos on-screen at the same time.

Once the meeting finally gets underway, the team tries to figure out how to deal with the “blood ocean” addition to the game. Ironically, they released a giant plague into their video game universe right before a worldwide pandemic struck.
Poppy gets the idea to release a vaccine in the game, and she’s been working obsessively throughout the quarantine to get it finished. Once she finally manages to complete her work, Poppy realizes that she has nothing left to keep her busy and starts to spiral.
Ian is deathly afraid of leaving his house and getting sick, but he senses that something is off with Poppy, even going so far as to admit he’s worried about her. He eventually leaves his house to go to Poppy’s while on a video call with her and finds her crying.
Poppy and Ian have an adorable moment where she admits she feels very lonely. I think most people can relate to how Poppy is feeling, and when she realizes that Ian is at her door and the two share a sweet hug in a single take, it’s hard not to get a little teary-eyed!
Elsewhere in the company, Rachel, Dana, and Lou become obsessed with making a giant TikTok-esque video that transitions seamlessly from each person’s webcam in a trippy obstacle course to dump a bag of chips onto Dana’s waiting hand. It’s pretty impressive how they filmed it, and it’s fun to watch everyone work together to make it happen.
Also, David loses his mustache, an eyelash, and an eyebrow in a bet with Brad — but at least it is for charity! The Mythic Quest team winds up donating $600,000 in total, which also happened in real life.
