Hightown Episode 4 recap: Did Jackie fall off the wagon?

Elsewhere, Junior is spending the day in bed with his girl. She says she has a barbecue to go to at her parents, and they consider Junior coming. They apparently haven’t seen him since he got clean, and based on the way their conversation, it sounds like things did not go well in the past.

Junior has a rough go of it at Donna’s family barbecue. While her father seems willing to forgive and forget, Donna’s mother is another story. She’s clearly still holding a grudge over Junior for all the stupid things he did while he was using.

Osito calls Junior while he’s at Donna’s barbecue, he’s waiting for him outside the house. Remember when that girl Jackie hooked up at rehab with called someone in the last episode? Whoever she called has a direct line to Osito, and now he knows the name Krista Collins, he also knows that some “woman” came looking for her.

All of this means Jackie is getting closer and closer to landing on Osito’s radar, and Junior is spooked. He tries to dissuade Osito from investigating by claiming Osito would have known if there was a witness since he was there.

It seems like he might believe that for a second, but then he ominously says, “we’ll find out,” before driving away.

Junior is sulking on the porch, although not necessarily for the reasons Donna thinks. I’m sure her mother’s disapproval is eating at him, but he’s also clearly very nervous about Osito and what could happen to Jackie, and him and his family, if things continue going the way they’re going.

How does Hightown Episode 4 end?

Junior calls Jackie to check-in, and Jackie tells him she found Krista. He wants to know what she says if she calls her back. I have a sneaking suspicion that Junior would be willing to throw Krista under the bus to save his own skin and that of the people he cares about.

Well, Krista is high as a kite, which is sad given how hard she worked to stay sober. She even tells her drug dealer Scotty how it happened, including her name. Given the look in Scotty’s eye after, I have to wonder if he could be Osito’s connection, and Krista just basically handed herself over on a silver platter with that confession.

To make matters worse, Jackie takes a shot at the end of the hour. Can she control herself and limit it to just one? Or will she go off the deep end again?
