3. Country Mac’s ocular patdown

Another reason Country Mac is preferable to regular Mac: Country Mac successfully does an ocular patdown against a burly dude (Ryan Mirvis), scaring him off by taking away the man’s own knife and brandishing it, saying: “Bring a knife to a fight, you better be prepared to use it, you jabroni.” In contrast, Mac poops his pants.

Dennis notes that Mac is in complete denial of every aspect of his life and Frank suggests “switching him out” for Country Mac. One almost can’t even fault the gang for considering this decision, as Mac comes off looking pathetic almost beyond belief. Country Mac’s patdown functioned almost identically to what Mac wants to look like but never does. He wants everyone to think he’s a bad-ass. but no one has a real-world incentive to submit to his constant desire to look cool.

4. Mac gets more homoerotic than ever before

As noted before, Mac has always seemed somewhat closeted. Here it is all but totally revealed that Mac is gay, and partly because he protests way too loud that he is not. Country Mac’s homosexuality is regarded by Mac as shocking, even though Mac is actually less subtle about his own gay tendencies, which are painfully obvious by now.

Sure, Mac’s affinity to Dennis also looked homoerotic before, but oiling men in the gym is one of the biggest “Mac is gay” moments before he fully came out. Interestingly, it’s later revealed that Mac’s in denial of other things, too, including his bad name: Ronald “Mac” McDonald. Throughout the series, other gang members tend to directly address him as “Mac,” so even they seem to generally respect this sensitive issue.
