6. Worst TV dads: Jimmy Cooper

This list entry might be a little bit of a throwback for some of you that haven’t thought about The O.C. in a while, but Jimmy Cooper was one of the world’s WORST dads, nonetheless a television dad. For starters, he was clearly in love with Kirsten Cohen.

Then he went and stole a bunch of money and left his wife and kids without anything. The results of that decision echoed throughout the series. He even ruined Marissa’s cotillion. He tried to turn Marissa against Julie, was never there for her during her struggles with alcohol, and he also dated Kirsten’s 25-year-old sister — ick.

He bailed on Marissa multiple times by leaving Newport. All in all, Jimmy was a total trainwreck and an awful father.

5. Worst TV dads: Butterscotch Horseman

BoJack Horseman might be a fun show most of the time, but when it gets dark — it gets seriously dark. Fans know that whenever BoJack starts to seriously talk about his life as a child and growing up with his horrifically abusive parents, things are about to get real.

Butterscotch might have a sweet name, but he was an absolute monster. Butterscotch was an alcoholic and a failed novelist who blamed his son for “ruining” his life. BoJack carries the trauma of having had terrible parents with him for his entire life, and it clearly weighs heavily on him, leading him to make some of the many self-destructive choices he does throughout the show.
