The Twilight Zone Season 2, Episode 6 recap: An octopus may doom humanity

The sixth installment of The Twilight Zone Season 2 is also, unfortunately, one of its weakest stories. I admire the episode for taking a chance into intriguing territory by attempting to deliver an Alien-esque creature feature, but the problem is the episode doesn’t do much with the topic at hand.

One thing I did like about “8” is how the hours imbibed the episode with some genuine gore and freaky kills. There were some fun moments that spoke to how campy and entertaining this episode could have been if it had more to say, but it never really hits its stride.

The Twilight Zone Season 2, Episode 6 recap: Ending explained

The main aspect of this episode is the fact that the researchers at the NYBY Science Station want to bio-engineer parts of the octopus and modify human traits. They want to dominate the ocean in the same way they own the land.

Well, the octopus has similar goals in mind as the intelligent creature escapes the confines of its traps and slowly kills all the crew members one-by-one until there is nothing left. The octopus uses their bio-engineering plan to modify itself and give it dominion over the land, in a similar method to what the humans wanted to do with the ocean.
