Dead to Me joins many other canceled Netflix shows gone too soon.

Yesterday, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Dead to Me had been renewed for a third and final season on Netflix. Unfortunately, the dark comedy has become yet another of the many canceled Netflix shows gone too soon. However, it seems the decision to end the series comes more from show creator Liz Feldman and stars like Christina Applegate than from Netflix itself.

Applegate took to her Twitter account yesterday to say they felt it was the best decision to end the series with the third season. The good news is it means the show should get a proper send-off with a solid ending.

Still, it made us consider what other canceled Netflix shows were axed before we were ready to say goodbye.

5. Canceled Netflix shows: Marvel Netflix

Disney’s decision to launch its own streaming service caused multiple contractual discussions between Netflix and the company. Prior to Disney+, Netflix had the streaming rights to many popular films from Disney’s catalog, including the Marvel films.

From that initial deal came multiple shows, including Luke Cage, Daredevil, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. Ultimately, the four series culminated in an Avengers-style team-up in The Defenders. Unfortunately, all of these shows came to premature ends when Disney pulled all their content from Netflix to fill out their own service and make more Marvel television series.

The same thing happened with many projects tentatively in the works for ABC. While some Marvel Netflix shows were more successful than others, fans were still disheartened to realize they would not be getting more seasons of some of the mainstays like Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
