Clare is now talking to the guards and going through all of the new protocols that will be put in place. No one is volunteering to build a new barrier. Brian forces their hand and some reluctantly volunteer.
Clare’s superior Genevieve comes into the room and surprises them with a visit. Clare is not happy that she is here, but is playing nice.
Ameer finally gets his interview. He is being interviewed by a woman named Fiona. She asks him why his wife and kids went before he did. He says that he only had money to send them and not himself. He then claims that a brother-in-law sent him money after so he could travel. But really, Mosi and he stole it from the man that scammed them.
Mina is in her room reading the dictionary. Ameer comes in and they discuss how the interview went.
Sofie is in the shower and having more memories of the day she was stuck in the room with Gordon. She begins to panic and needs to get out of her solitary room, but she is not allowed out.
The guards are putting up a sheet between the two sides of the camp to prevent the men from seeing the family side and vice versa.
Ameer quickly runs to Farid and tells him what he did with Mosi. Their escape with the money wasn’t as easy as it seemed, Mosi ended up stabbing a man in the street.
The people in the camp are slowly turning on Cam and he doesn’t like this new treatment.
Cam’s sister is back at her house and Cam goes to visit her. She was bailed out of prison by a nun. She asks Cam why he turned her in? They end up in a disagreement over the events that occurred.
Genevieve is yelling at Clare for not getting the camp off of the news, which is why Clare was sent there in the first place. Clare is pushing back because Genevieve is saying that she might get fired because of it.
Fiona then goes to Clare to tell her about Ameer’s interview and Claire says that she wants to talk to him. She also says that she will have more people look into it.
The men are rioting in the courtyard and demanding the cafeteria be reopened. Farid goes to Brian and says that he will negotiate for the rest of the group. Clare shows up and says that they will not negotiate. Farid warns that this situation will just get worse.
Cam is sleeping at his house and gets a call from Harriet to come back in because of what is going on in the compound. He does not want to go back but is forced to. The time Cam spends at work is starting to put a strain on his marriage.
Clare now sits down with Ameer. They are asking him questions about how he paid to get to Australia. They tell him his story is not possible because his brother-in-law died before he claims to have gotten sent the money. Ameer couldn’t have known this.
Clare uses this information to force the truth. Ameer still doesn’t give in and asks to speak to a lawyer.
Clare leaves the room and is on the phone with someone else talking about Ameer’s case.
Stateless Season 1: Will things be resolved in the compound?
Brian walks in and shows Clare that the noise has stopped. Brian has negotiated. He allowed the cafeteria to reopen. Clare is not happy with this and now wants the leaders to be put in isolation. However, with isolation being full, they will have to release Sofie and Javad.
We see Sofie in her cell still thinking about what Gordon did to her. A guard walks in and tells her that she can go outside. This makes her happy.
Clare and Brian now get into it about what is really going on at the camp. Brian cracks. He says that his job is too difficult given the circumstances.
Sofie drags her mattress into the middle of the camp and lays down on it. The kids come to join her. Harriet and Cam talk about Sofie and how they think she is trying to get out of here on medical.
Harriet then goes over and tells Sofie to go back inside. She refuses and makes Cam drag the mattress. We see Sofie having flashbacks to when she was at the airport. While she was being handcuffed and taken into custody, she passed a man that she used to work with.
We then see this man talking to Margot. He tells Margot that Sofie might still be Australia.
We now see Sofie talking to a psychologist. He is asking her questions about her mental health. While he is asking her these questions, she is thinking about Gordon. When Sofie is about to lose it, the interviewer stops.
Clare now has footage from when Ameer was scammed by the boatman. It is unfortunate because this video shows Ameer collecting money from others. At the same time, Sofie’s interviewer comes in and tells Clare that Sofie should be transferred to a psychiatric facility.
Clare is in an interview room with Ameer. She asks him about the boatman and what he did. Ameer pleads for his daughter. He is doubling down that he doesn’t know the boatman. Ameer thinks Mosi told them, but he didn’t.
Ameer goes after Mosi in the cafeteria, but it wasn’t Mosi. Ameer gets taken to isolation.
Sofie does not want to go into her room to collect her things because of isolation. She reluctantly goes in with a guard. Only, she is again having flashbacks to Gordon and how she asked him to stop.
Sofie breaks and can’t tell the difference between the past and the current time. She thinks the guards are after her and attacks them. They finally get her to stop, but this one has really taken a toll on Cam.
Cam returns home. His house is in disarray. The kids are doing that ever they want. The two boys are hurting each other and Cam loses it. He starts yelling at the kids. His wife kicks him out.
Clare is now getting more footage. Genevieve thinks that Ameer is a people smuggler. We know he isn’t, but they don’t. They now have to hand this footage over and it goes to court. This doesn’t sit well with Clare.
Clare goes to Brian to apologize and finds Brian packing up his belongings. He was fired because of the escape. Before Brian leaves, he plays a song over the speaker. This song speaks to all of the people in the camp.
Clare goes home and gets out of her car crying. She is met by her neighbor who embraces her. Cam ends up going out with the other guards and cheats on his wife with one of them. Clare and Cam don’t seem like they can handle these circumstances at the camp any longer.
Will Cam and Clare come to enough of a breaking point that they make changes in the camp? Will Margot find Sofie now that she is being moved?
