Brave New World and 15 great shows now streaming on Peacock

NBC jumps into the streaming game with Peacock TV.
Having a streaming service is the next big thing for all of the entertainment companies out there and NBCUniversal has officially jumped into the mix with the launch of Peacock TV.
Unfortunately, for TV-watchers with Amazon Fire Sticks and Roku devices, you won’t be able to watch Peacock TV just yet, although I would imagine that might change in the future. The main thing that sets NBC’s service apart from others is that it’s free! Well, mostly.
Some content is stuck behind a paywall and if you want a completely ad-free experience, as most of us have become quite accustomed to, you will have to shell out $9.99 a month for Peacock Premium. Is it worth it? That’s a topic we’ll tackle another time, but for now, let’s dive into some of the many options available to those eager to binge-watch something new.
What are the best comedy shows on Peacock TV?
Psych 2: Lassie Comes Home — Shawn and Gus are back for another hilarious installment in the Psych universe. This time they have to try and untangle a weird case without any police assistance.
- 30 Rock
- Parks and Recreation
- A.P. Bio
- Saturday Night Live
- Superstore
- King of Queens
- Everybody Loves Raymond
What are the best drama series on Peacock TV?
Brave New World — Brave New World is the big prestige television offering on the app and the first of many Peacock Originals. There are a few other shows labeled “originals” on the service but this one really is since it has never aired before.
It’s a sexy dystopia series based on Aldous Huxley’s famous book of the same name. It doesn’t present a lot of new content to the genre but it sure is fun to watch and beautiful to look at!
The Capture – Another thrilling series that has been dubbed a mixture of Homeland and Bodyguard. It’s a slickly paced story, a British mystery crime drama that stars Holliday Grainger. It follows a man convicted of murder after his crime was supposedly caught on CCTV and he becomes desperate to clear his name.
Other great dramas available:
- Friday Night Lights
- Downton Abbey
- Yellowstone
- The Affair
- Ray Donovan
Peacock TV offers channels, which is pretty cool.
If you’re not in the mood to start a new show or rewatch one, you can always check out the “channels” feature on Peacock TV. While the service is not the first to create its own channels — Pluto TV also has this nifty feature — it seems like it could be the way of the future.
The difference between streaming service channels and regular cable channels is that each one is divided up into genres or specific franchises. There is a channel on Peacock that only plays episodes of The Office and one that airs nothing but Unsolved Mysteries around the clock. Another one plays Law & Order: SVU.
For people who enjoy having the television on in the background, it’s a great way to mindlessly watch something and not have to worry about which episode is on, etc. It plays episodes randomly, I’d love to see Netflix and Hulu create something similar on their apps in the future.
Peacock TV is available to download right now. Are you planning to check it out? Which shows will you watch first?
