Brad Dourif will voice Chucky in the Chucky TV show.

Chucky fans rejoice! Brad Dourif, who voiced the murderous doll in the popular horror franchise, will return to voice the character in the upcoming Chucky TV show, according to TVLine.

Dourif is the only official cast member announced the series, which is set to debut sometime in 2021 on SYFY.

The news should be well-received by diehard fans of the Child’s Play franchise considering the absence of Dourif and original creator Don Mancini from the recent 2019 reboot amid some controversy.

What will the Chucky TV show be about?

The TVLine article shared the synopsis for the series, which is being marketed as a “vintage” new take on the classic film.

“After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets,” says the description.

It continues to tease multiple enemies and even allies from Chucky’s past arriving to shake things up, including explaining more about the doll’s origins and the “truth behind the killings.”

As for who these mysterious “allies” might be, it’s not yet clear, but there are plenty of theories already floating around on social media.

Mancini will serve as the showrunner on the Chucky TV show. However, given the ongoing pandemic, it’s hard to say when, exactly, the series will debut on SYFY.

David Kirschner, who worked on the original film series, will also join the new show as an executive producer.

Is there a trailer for the Chucky TV show yet?

I’m assuming filming has not even begun for Chucky, but SYFY did recently release a brief teaser! It shows a camera slowly panning around a toy store before Chucky’s silhouette pops up, standing at the end of an aisle.

He lifts his knife and delivers an evil cackle. The tune from Child’s Play 2 plays in the background.

Since we’ll be waiting a while to go before the series debuts, now is the perfect time to rewatch the film series! As Mancini is the creator, we can assume Chucky will be canon to the franchise.
