When can fans finally catch Star Trek: Discovery Season 3?
It’s been an interminable wait for Star Trek: Discovery Season 3, but fans will be relieved to hear that the show will be premiering this fall. The official Star Trek website has announced that the third season will air on October 15 on CBS All Access in the US. The show is scheduled to air concurrently on other channels and platforms internationally.
Star Trek: Discovery had completed filming all its season three episodes prior to the global lockdowns and has been in post-production since. Given the quality of the show’s production values, expectations will be high that the visual effects continue to be on par with the previous seasons.
Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 heads into the future.
The crew of Discovery left for the future in the season two finale to save the universe from the evil AI, Control. Star Trek: Discovery Season 3 will explore their journey 900 years from the present. At the recently concluded SDCC@Home, the cast shed light on what their characters would be feeling having left their entire lives behind.
While Burnham will be finding her feet, other characters like Saru, Georgiou and Tilly may be far more resilient and ambitious.
The majority of the main cast will be returning for the third outing of Star Trek: Discovery, including Sonequa Martin-Green (Michael Burnham), Doug Jones (Saru), Mary Wiseman (Sylvia Tilly), Wilson Cruz (Hugh Culber), Anthony Rapp (Paul Stamets), Michelle Yeoh (Georgiou), Tig Notaro (Jett Reno), Emily Coutts (Detmer), Oyin Oladejo (Owosekun), Patrick Kwok-Choon (Rhys), Ronnie Rowe (Bryce), and Sara Mitich (Nilsson).
The only addition to the cast in David Ajala, playing the mysterious and charismatic Cleveland Booker, aka Book. We will undoubtedly see many other characters appear in the third season as well, but no other cast members have been announced yet.

One hopes that some of the background crew like Owosekun, Bryce, Rhys and Detmer will come to the fore with more screen time and character arcs of their own. We cannot wait to find out what the far future will have in store for this crew.
