The Umbrella Academy Season 2, Episode 3 recap: Luther is shocked by Allison’s new life.
Luther has made himself a decent home in Dallas and even garnered something of a reputation as a local legend. As he enjoys a brisk jog through a neighborhood, a few kids cheer and call him “King Kong.”
His “cool guy” exterior is fumbled, though, when he notices a woman bearing a striking resemblance to Allison and loses his footing, tumbling facedown into the ground. Both the kids and the woman look at him as if he’s an alien.
Unable to get her out of his mind, he asks Jack to use some of his pull to track down Allison. Jack manages to come through with the goods, giving Luther the address to her South Dallas home.
When he pulls up, he doesn’t find Allison, but he does come face-to-face with her husband! Luther does not take it well, stupefied by the fact she’s married, he dives into the box of chocolates he brought for her. He later asks Ray to tell Allison he needs to talk to her, after giving him a forced congratulations on their upcoming wedding anniversary.
Learning that Allison is married is a major blow to Luther. He purposefully lets his opponent start beating him at his latest fight. Vanya and Five sneak in and witness him essentially giving up in the center of the ring. Jack screams at Luther from the sidelines since he has a lot of money riding on the fight and doesn’t get why his prized fighter is failing.
He continuously begs the man to hit him over and over again, asking to make him feel pain. Five screams at Luther to hit him, but he ignores him until the other guy delivers a punch so intense it knocks Luther clean off his feet and onto his back.
“Why didn’t he fight back?” Vanya asks.
Luther peers up at the moon, obviously thinking of Allison.
