High Fidelity: 5 reasons the show should be saved

2. The creators had a long-term plan for the show.
According to an interview with the creators conducted by The Hollywood Reporter, High Fidelity creators Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka had long-term plans for the show, hoping it would span many more seasons.
West told THR that their intention for the show was to have audience members root for “different relationships.” It sounded like they wanted to spend time focusing on other characters and their romantic lives as the series moved forward. We saw that some in the first season when we got to see things from Simon’s point-of-view, and a little of what was going on with Cherise.
They said they wanted Rob to date more characters we’d yet to meet and “go on relationships stories and other kinds of stories with Cherise and Simon and the universe” would continue expanding and evolving. It’s a shame that we might now have to miss out on that.
1. It had so much life and vibrancy left to share.
High Fidelity was the rare show that feels different from the first episode. Fans quickly became attracted to the way it balanced modernism with nostalgia. The music, the outfits, the characters, and the cinematography all meshed so well together to transport viewers elsewhere for a little while.
It also helped that Robyn was anchoring the cast as such a relatable character with issues we’ve all faced at one time or another. It seemed like High Fidelity was fixing up to be an instant classic, a show that could steadily grow into a real ensemble and explore love and the variety of relationships in life through different perspectives outside of the traditional white and heteronormative way television typically tackles it.
I especially would have been interested to see how a show like this one would have tackled the pandemic and the way we’ve all been living in isolation, starved of intimacy, for much of 2020.
It’s a shame if we don’t get to see what the series could really grow into with a few more seasons, so make sure you let your voice be heard on social media!
