Peacock TV is working on a Clueless reboot focusing on Dionne.

It was recently announced that NBC Universal’s new streaming service Peacock TV would be developing a Clueless reboot centering on Cher Horowitz’s best friend Dionne Davenport.

Dionne will step into the spotlight when her best friend mysteriously disappears. Not only will she have to juggle her newfound popularity, but Dionne will make it her mission to find out what happened to Cher.

Since the potential reboot is still in the early stages of development, we do not yet know if it will receive an official series pick-up. But it’s not too early to start thinking about our dreamcast.

I think Ashleigh Murray would make a great Dionne — and before you jump on me about her age (Murray is 32), Stacey Dash, who originated the role of Dione, was pushing 30 when she first played the teenage character. It could be a semi-cheeky homage to the original to cast a similarly-aged actress.

Clueless reboot: Why would Ashleigh Murray make a great Dionne?

For starters, it’s not like Murray doesn’t have experience playing teenagers. She portrayed Josie McCoy on Riverdale and an aged-up version of the character on the spin-off Katy Keene.

Unfortunately, Katy Keene was canceled after only one season, but that does mean she is in need of a new acting job.

Tonally, Clueless is similar to Katy Keene, both are colorful and full of fashion. When Katy Keene first started it received favorable comparisons to the short-lived Carrie Diaries, a Sex and the City prequel.

I’ve always thought Sex and the City and Clueless appealed to similar audiences and the new show could find a middle-ground  between the two with Murray at the helm. Plus, she deserves to lead a show after years of being shafted on Riverdale.

I don’t know if the actress is even interested in the job, but I think she could be a great fit. It helps that she already has a built-in fanbase from her CW days.

And for those who don’t think the show could be successful, well, there is already precedent for a Clueless spin-off. One aired across three seasons shortly after the 1995 film debuted. Several cast members from the original even returned to reprise their roles, including Dash.
