Ever wondered where Emily VanCamp and Chris Pratt got their start in the industry? Both actors starred in Everwood, a beloved and heartwarming family drama created by DCTV super-producer Greg Berlanti.
The series was an early Warner Bros. favorite that ran on the original WB for four seasons and 89 episodes in total. It probably would have lasted longer, but it didn’t make the cut when UPN merged with The WB to create The CW.
Like Hart of Dixie and Virgin River, Everwood revolved around a doctor moving to a new small town to start fresh. In Everwood’s case, the doctor was played by Treat Williams, who relocates with his entire family in tow.

1. Shows like Virgin River: Sweet Magnolias
Odds are if you’ve watched Virgin River, you probably gobbled up Sweet Magnolias, too. Both series were developed simultaneously when Netflix decided to try and add some Hallmark-esque content to its service. Both are very similar in tone and vibe.
It is based on a series of novels by Sherryl Woods, who also wrote the Chesapeake Shores series, which was adapted into a series for Hallmark. Sweet Magnolias follows three South Carolina women who have been best friends since childhood as they grapple with big changes in their lives. It stars JoAnna Garcia Swisher, Brooke Elliott, and Heather Headley. Jamie Lynn Spears also stars.
