5. Best Freeform shows: The Secret Life of The American Teenager

Let’s start with The Secret Life of the American Teenager. This series ran from 2008 until 2013.  It stars Shailene Woodley as high schooler Amy Juergens and fans of classic ’80s films will recognize Molly Ringwald as her mother Anne Juergens.

After attending band camp, Amy’s world turns upside down as she finds out that she is pregnant by high school bad boy, Ricky Underwood, played by Daren Kagasoff. Now Amy has to attend high school while dealing with the ups and downs of pregnancy and high school in general.

Along the way, she has friends, like Ben, that stand by her side, but there are others that are not so nice.

This show puts an eye on what it is like to be a teenage mother. You can watch all five seasons of The Secret Life of the American Teenager free on the Freeform app or on Hulu.
