18. Best fall TV shows: Friday Night Lights
Not only is Friday Night Lights a fantastic show with excellent actors like Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler, but it just screams fall. Football and fall go hand-in-hand. The heart of the show is rural small town Dillon, Texas, where Friday night football is a massive deal with the locals.
It might only be high school football to some, but people don’t joke about Dillon football. To them, it’s a serious business. The small-town backdrop adds extra drama and realness to the show’s portrayal of many important issues like racism, sexism, school funding, family values, and much more.
Friday Night Lights is streaming on Peacock TV.
17. Best fall TV shows: Everwood
Something about small-town shows just screams fall. Everwood is a lesser-known family drama but still a great one that more people should watch. Plus, it stars a young Emily VanCamp and Chris Pratt, if you were ever curious to see them on something before blowing up in the Marvel Universe. The series is set in a small Colorado town when a world-renowned brain surgeon loses his wife.
He leaves Manhattan behind for the idyllic Everwood and takes his two children along with him. The family must adapt to their new home, which isn’t always easy to fit in when you’re a newcomer — especially as a teenager. Everwood‘s DNA is similar to other small-town series like Hart of Dixie, Northern Exposure, and Virgin River.
Everwood is streaming free on IMDb TV.
