14. Best fall TV shows: Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Witches, vampires, werewolves, demons, and a teenage slayer who must save the world — what more could you possibly want? Buffy the Vampire Slayer is the show that made Sarah Michelle Gellar into a star, and it’s a favorite show for many who grew up watching it on the old WB as kids. For many, it was their first introduction to the horror genre.

The series has several stellar episodes that are still considered classics to this day. It was Buffy that popularized the musical episode, for one. The show is based on the film of the same title, which starred Kristy Swanson, although this is the rare case where most people remember the show more than the movie.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is now streaming on Hulu.

13: Best fall TV shows: October Road

October Road was a short-lived but underrated series that starred One Tree Hill alum Bryan Greenberg as a best-selling author Nick Garrett, who returns to his hometown of Knights Ridge in Massachusetts to try and get over his writer’s block.

He has difficulty adjusting to his old place because he has to face many of the people he wrote badly about in his book. Facing his old best friend and even his former girlfriend, Nick struggles to find a place where he fits in. Shows set in New England always feel especially fall-like, especially with this show’s autumnal color palette.

October Road is now streaming on the ABC app.
