Emily in Paris recap: Episode 7, ‘French Ending’
By Mads Lennon
In Emily in Paris Episode 7, Emily agrees to watch over an American actress at a chic red-carpet event, but things quickly spiral out of control.
Emily has a new task in Emily in Paris Episode 7, and that is to babysit a hot American actress named Brooklyn Clark (Carlson Young) who is in town for the launch of Fourtier’s new store. Sylvie is planning to take a trip to St. Barths with Antoine, so Emily wants to assure her she can keep things running smoothly while she’s out of town.
That means chaperoning Brooklyn to a classy red-carpet event that we all know will go catastrophically wrong. It doesn’t help that in France, Brooklyn isn’t as famous as she is in America. Her hit movie Made in Dishonor — which sounds like it came out in the early 2010s and not 2020 — is what Emily knows her for best, although of course she’s seen her entire filmography.

When Emily arrives at the hotel to meet Brooklyn, she convinces her to wear a dress by Pierre Cadault to the event, since it’ll be good publicity for both of them. As for Emily’s date, she invites Camille, Mindy and Gabriel to join her over a dinner date, but neither Mindy nor Camille can attend.
Gabriel agrees, thinking it’ll be fun to hang out with a movie star. As for Camille, she admits there is some stress between her and her chef beau because Gabriel has permission to purchase the restaurant but can’t afford it without some help from her loaded parents.
He’s too proud to accept, of course, so it has caused some tension between them. Camille thinks it’ll be good for them to spend some time apart that weekend as she travels to Provence to meet with an art collector and entrusts Emily to ensure her boyfriend has a good time.
While Brooklyn tries on several dresses from Pierre’s collection, Emily meets the designer’s nephew, Mathieu (Charles Martins), who is the real brains behind the business. According to him, he didn’t know this marketing deal was actually going down but agrees to let it happen after some wheeling from Emily. He just doesn’t want it to be anything too cliché.
Emily in Paris Episode 7 recap: Emily loses Brooklyn at the party.
At the party, Emily is coerced into signing a contract in French that has to do with insurance and the multi-million dollar watch they’ve loaned to Brooklyn to wear for the night. Obviously, Emily is supposed to keep close tabs on her to ensure nothing happens to that watch and she fails at that pretty fast.
It starts when Antoine shows up with his wife in tow and she lets it slip that Antoine accidentally forwarded her the St. Barth’s plane tickets. Assuming they’re for a surprise marital trip, she makes it known that she and Antoine will be traveling together, not Sylvie.
Obviously, Sylvie is upset by this development but tries not to show it as she leaves the party and Brooklyn disappears not long after. Emily only notices she’s missing when she walks outside and sees her in the back of a car pulling away from the building. Gabriel talks to Brooklyn’s driver on the phone and they follow her to a club a few blocks away.
The club doesn’t go well since Emily and Gabriel get caught up in the drinks and dancing. They wind up making out again while Brooklyn supposedly disappears into the “bathroom.” She doesn’t. When Emily and Gabriel return to the hotel, the concierge won’t let Emily into Brooklny’s room, no matter what alias she uses.
Emily in Paris Episode 7 recap: Sylvie to the rescue.
Desperate to get the watch back… Emily has a drink with Gabriel? Sylvie catches her there and jumps into action to clean up the mess. She demands the concierge let them into Brooklyn’s room and inside they find her having sex with some random guy. Brooklyn claims she was going to bring the watch back, but no one believes that.
On the way down the elevator, Emily asks Sylvie if she’s really happy with Antoine considering she can’t have 100% of him, but Sylvie doesn’t want that and she doesn’t want anyone to have 100% of her either. Emily believes in fairytales and happy endings, so it’s clear she doesn’t quite agree and it makes her realize she really needs to put a stop to things with Gabriel. He waits for her outside to take her home and she tells him that they can’t see each other anymore because it’s not fair to her (or his girlfriend).
Ultimately, Sylvie saves the day and Emily manages to get a picture of the dress lying on the floor amongst some other random party debris with the hashtag #AboutLastNight. Mathieu is impressed, saying she managed to make the brand “sexy” again, somehow?
In the hopes that she can tread new ground with Sylvie after the hotel debacle. Emily asks if she wants to take a girls trip to Disneyland Paris, Sylvie’s response is to kick Emily out of her office. One step forward, three steps back?
