6. Scary shows on Netflix: Dracula

Based on the classic 1897 novel of the same name written by Bram Stoker, Dracula is a relatively new show that was broadcast first on BBC One before airing on Netflix. It’s only three episodes, but it’s a frighteningly fun — not always faithful to its source material — adaptation that blends horror and humor.

Dracula follows the king of vampires from his Eastern Europe origins to his legendary battle against Van Helsing. Claes Bang of The Affair fame stars in the title role. Dolly Wells (Doll & Em) co-stars as Sister Agatha Van Helsing and John Heffernan (Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell) plays Jonathan Harker.

5. Scary shows on Netflix: Chambers

Chambers was a unique one-season wonder about a teenager who received a heart transplant and then became haunted by her dead donor. Her visions continued to grow increasingly horrifying as she became roped into a mystery surrounding her death. If you like body horror and hauntings, then Chambers is for you.

It leads to a tremendously twisted ending, and while it only lasted for one season, the conclusion is sufficient enough to stand on its own. The series starred newcomer Sivan Alyra Rose in the leading role alongside Uma Thurman and Tony Goldwyn.
