NYCC 2020 Truth Seekers: A look into the paranormal comedy.

Panel Moderator Terry Schwartz of IGN sat down with some of the cast and creative from the Amazon Prime original Truth Seekers to find out a little bit more about Season 1, premiering this October.

Schwartz was joined by co-creator and cast member Nick Frost, who plays Gus, as well as cast members, Samson Kayo who plays Elton, Emma D’Arcy who plays Astrid, Malcolm McDowell who plays Richard, and Susan Wokoma who plays Helen.

NYCC 2020 Truth Seekers: A deeper dive into the character of Elton

Samson Kayo gives us some background about his character Elton. Samson told IGN that Elton and his sister, Helen, have a traumatic background. When Elton goes to work at the installation company, he is trying to restart his life.

What he doesn’t expect is being partnered up with a person like Gus. Gus being the more adventurous out of the duo. Although Kayo did claim that Elton does have a more outgoing side, he just needs some convincing.

NYCC 2020 Truth Seekers: What’s up with Astrid?

The character of Astrid is played by Emma D’Arcy and has some sort of ghost problem. Here is what D’Arcy had to say about it.

"Okay, well, Astrid when we first meet her is on the run. Her house has burnt down.And she’s got a massive ghost problem.She runs into, was almost run over by Gus and Elton. And, in them she discovers two supernatural enthusiasts. And well, I think she endows them with all the belief in the world that they might be her kind of help and salvation and, and find some ally ship and friendship and family."

NYCC 2020 Truth Seekers: So why should you watch? 

Truth Seekers seems to have it all. It has comedy, drama, horror, and everything in between. Malcolm McDowell told IGN that he loves the characters in the show and how they are all unique in their own way, yet come together nicely.

Emma D’Arcy took a different perspective and said that the show “has like a very nostalgic quality.”

Finally, Nick Frost said, “You know, we wanted it to be like, Scooby-Doo
