Ahead of ‘Dickinson’ Season 2, Apple TV Plus renews show for Season 3
By Mads Lennon
Ahead of Dickinson Season 2’s premiere, which has finally been revealed, Apple TV Plus has ordered a third season of the hit new series.
According to Deadline, Apple TV Plus has decided to renew Dickinson for a third season ahead of Dickinson Season 2. Alongside the renewal news, the streaming service also announced the official airdate of Dickinson Season 2 and provided a brief teaser!
Thankfully for fans of the quirky half-hour comedy and loose historical retelling of Emily Dickinson‘s life, they don’t have to wait too much longer for new episodes. Per the date announcement video/tease, Dickinson Season 2 will premiere on Jan. 8 with three brand-new episodes. After that, episodes will release weekly.
The second season has also enlisted Nick Kroll, Ayo Edebiri, Will Pullen and Timothy Simons in guest-starring roles alongside the first season’s cast.

The coming-of-age story starring Hailee Steinfeld will continue to follow Emily’s life. In the Deadline article, they reported that in Season 2, Emily would have to contend with her private literary life being “thrust into the public eye.”
The teaser shows Emily participating in a seancé with her friends. She asks if she should “pursue fame” and gets a spooky response from the other world. As the teaser hinted, she’ll have to contend with the consequences of fame.
What does the early renewal mean for the series?
Dickinson‘s early renewal means that Apple TV Plus has faith in the series, which has been one of its best-received original scripted shows. The news comes only a few months after the show’s creator, showrunner, and executive producer made an overall deal with Apple, Deadline reports.
The surreal dramedy is also the first official show from the streamer to receive a Season 3 renewal. While Apple TV Plus has given many of their scripted shows a second season, Dickinson is the only one to nab a third season thus far. As long as it keeps performing well, I imagine the show will be sticking around for a while.
