Kate Hudson sets her big TV return with ‘Truth Be Told’ Season 2

Truth Be Told Season 2 lands another big star in Kate Hudson.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kate Hudson marks her return to television with a starring role in the hit Apple TV Plus series Truth Be Told Season 2.
Slated to begin production on Oct. 26, this will be Hudson’s first extended television arc since she appeared in the fourth season of musical comedy Glee. She will star opposite Octavia Spencer’s character Poppy Parnell; a true-crime podcaster turned investigator.
Hopefully, the second season of the series will fare better than the first. While Season 1, based on Kathleen Barber’s novel Are You Sleeping, did well with audiences, critics panned the series. It only received a paltry 31% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Spencer’s performance was praised, as were her co-stars Lizzy Caplan and Aaron Paul. Perhaps the new season, which will stray from the source material, will do better.
Who will Hudson play in Truth Be Told Season 2?
The Almost Famous actress will play a lifestyle guru named Micah Keller. Micah and Poppy are old friends, and it sounds like Micah has a close connection to a new case Poppy is investigating. It’s not yet clear what the new story will be about, but it sounds like Hudson’s character will play a pivotal role.
Deadline reported that Season 2 would examine America’s obsession with true crime podcasts — whatever that means.
Other than Poppy, it doesn’t seem like any other characters from Season 1 would be returning. The show is a quasi-anthology, with only one central character (Poppy) anchoring each season, but the rest of the story/characters changing. It is possible actors like Paul or Caplan could return to play different characters, as is frequently done on American Horror Story.
As for when fans might expect the new season to air, it’s too early to tell. If production goes as planned and stays on schedule, I imagine it will come out in 2021.
