1. Family-friendly scares on Disney Plus: Hocus Pocus

Our last recommendation is actually a Disney movie. But it is nevertheless a Halloween classic that provides plenty of family-friendly scares. Disney Plus, luckily, has this gem available to stream for loads of Halloween fun. Hocus Pocus tells the story of the Sanderson sisters, a trio of witches who are accidentally resurrected by a teenage boy. According to Fandangothe boy’s name is Max Dennison, and while he is exploring an abandoned house with his sister Dani and their friend Allison, Max awakens the witches.

After Allison tells a story about the witches, which Max, of course, dismisses as a silly superstition, he is surprised when the trio actually returns from the dead. They then have to hide from the witches, who are determined to become immortal. To stop this from happening, Max, Dani, and Allison, with some help from a talking cat, need to steal the witches’ spellbook. As we are sure you can imagine, hijinx ensue.

The story is an intriguing one and will have you on the edge of your seat. You will root for the kids to stop the Sanderson sisters while at the same time being intrigued by the antagonists. The movie is just scary enough to be perfect for Halloween, but not too scary that it’ll have any kids or easily scared adults hiding behind the couch. We are sure you won’t regret watching it!
