‘Truth Seekers’ Episode 2 recap: ‘The Watcher on the Water’

Truth Seekers: Who is the woman in the back of Gus’s truck?

When we last left Amazon Prime‘s Truth Seekers, there was a stowaway in the back of Gus’s work truck. We know she is running from something weird, but what is really going on?

We start with a man on a balcony watching an incoming storm. It appears we are back in time, the time of Hitler. There are men in a basement talking about a machine of some sort.

The watcher on the tower tries to call the men saying the numbers, “1, 5, 9, 7.” The numbers Gus is hearing during the present day.

The men have to leave the basement and the watcher on the tower is attacked by the storm.

We jump to the present day and the woman has woken up inside Gus’s van. The van is parked outside of a diner. Gus and Elton are eating inside.

They are recounting their adventure with Mrs. Connelly.

The woman in the truck is going through Gus’s paranormal magazines when the men renter the truck and head back to Smyle to get their next assignment.

They are told that they are going to go to a haunted hotel to complete a job. Elton is less than thrilled.

Gus takes Elton to his house to show him something. The woman goes to look and outside the window of the car, she can see one of the things that are chasing her.

Gus shows Elton a magazine in which the paranormal experts say that the hotel is not in fact haunted. Elton feels better about going there.

The woman gets out of the truck and starts to run behind the house. She is still seeing things that are chasing her, but then they go away. She enters a back door at Gus’s house.

Gus and Elton are having a small talk in the car. Gus shares that his wife had passed away, but won’t say what happened.

Elton’s sister calls and asks him to pick a plunger for her Con costume. Elton then won’t tell Gus about his family’s past.

There is a lot more going on here, that we need to learn more about.

Gus and Elton get to the hotel. They are greeted by a joker of a man that likes to amp up the haunted vibes.

He insists upon giving them a tour and says that no one has had internet service at the hotel in years despite the heavy cable work.

Back at Gus’s house, the woman is reading one of Gus’s books about the paranormal. When Gus’s father, Richard, enters the study.

We go back to the hotel. There is a door that has caution tape on it. The worker says that no one is allowed to go in there because the room is always freezing and you get shocked when you touch anything.

We are getting some major ghost vibes.

Gus makes Elton run the test signals back upstairs to see how far it can reach without losing the signal.

Elton runs into an old man, the caretaker, who says that maybe something is blocking the signal. When all of a sudden the locked caution taped door opens and Elton steps in.

The door shuts right behind him. On Gus’s walky-talky to Elton, he can now hear the numbers 1, 5, 9, 7.  Gus goes to the caution door and has the worker open it.

Gus walks in, but he can’t find Elton. We find out that he was hiding under the covers.

At Gus’s house, Richard is now watching Gus’s youtube channel, when he gets a request from Elton’s sister’s channel. So he begins to watch it. She is doing spooky makeup tutorials. Richard seems to enjoy it.

The mysterious woman is now running through the house from the haunted figures with Richard unaware because he has headphones on.

Truth Seekers: Another door to the unknown

Back at the hotel, Gus and Elton start to put together that there is something paranormal going on. Elton starts to have a panic attack. Gus walks away and the caretaker enters the room again.

The caretaker goes to grab his favorite book and a secret door opens. The caretaker leaves and Gus enters.

Elton tells Gus the old man opened the secret door, but Gus didn’t see a man.

We are definitely dealing with a ghost.

They enter the secret door and it is the bunker from the beginning of the episode. Gus hears a song and they are hearing the voice from the beginning of the episode. Only it is talking to them.

Gus thinks a human soul is stuck in the number station machine. It is the man from the watchtower and the lightning from the storm trapped his soul in the machine.

Gus thinks they have to make the soul move on by proving World War 2 is over. Elton shows him a bag of chips to show the date. Then Gus tells him that everyone is proud of him and that he can go now.

Once the soul goes on, the internet signal is restored to the whole area.

The men are on their way when they say goodbye to the man behind the desk. Elton asks them to say goodbye to the caretaker and they confirm, that he is a real person. Not a ghost? They got us!

Elton then runs over to the caretaker and asks for the plunger he has.

On the way home, Gus continues to ask about Elton’s past and Elton continues to shut him down. Elton then says that he just wants a normal job and nothing to do with ghosts.

Finally, the mysterious woman that is being chased runs up to the van and yells to the men that she needs help and she thinks she is being chased by ghosts.

Well, sorry, Elton. It looks like you aren’t off the hook yet!

Truth Seekers: Final Thoughts

This episode played more the unconventional side of the supernatural. We like that they put a different spin on the haunted hotel and how it played into the technological side of the show.

We are also seeing more stories unravel between Gus and Elton on a more personal level. Now that the show is established, we want to see how this mysterious woman plays into it.

We give this episode a B. We have now know what to expect from the show, but now we want to see it take off!
