Fans rejoice as Hilarie Burton Morgan confirms her role as Negan’s wife Lucille on The Walking Dead.

Possible spoilers ahead if you have not caught up on The Walking Dead.

Lucille had always been the name of Negan’s baseball bat on The Walking Dead. The weapon never left his side and if it did he would do anything to get her back. A bat like that must have meant something to him but he has remained elusive about his past. Those who have been following The Walking Dead via the comic books know the whole story.

Now it seems that Lucille will finally make an appearance on The Walking Dead. A variety of sources were pouring in with the news and I personally did not want to believe any of it until I saw proper confirmation.

Hilarie Burton Morgan released the following tweet:

What could this mean for Negan’s backstory?

Unveiling Negan’s Backstory

Fans have hoped that Negan’s backstory would one day be covered on The Walking Dead. Throughout the hit, AMC series Negan had provided little pieces of his past to a variety of characters.

He revealed that he had a wife that he was unfaithful to before the apocalypse. She, unfortunately, died from pancreatic cancer just as the apocalypse was starting.

However, when she turned he was unable to kill her. Negan had since regretted it and named his ultimate weapon after her.

While the details are still a mystery it is implied that Lucille will appear during the additional six episodes of Season 10 of The Walking Dead due to be released in 2021. Will we see Lucille for one episode or several?

How in-depth will Negan’s possible backstory be? Will fans be able to handle watching real-life husband and wife costars act out a very sad love story?

For now, I will gladly anticipate what’s to come with tissues at the ready just in case.
