Dash and Lily Episode 6 recap: ‘Christmas Eve’
By Mads Lennon
Dash and Lily finally cross paths at Priya’s Christmas party in Dash and Lily Episode 6! Too bad they don’t realize what’s happening just yet.
Dash and Lily Episode 6, “Christmas Eve,” kicks off with Dash and Sofia taking a stroll through the streets of New York. Sofia nags Dash about getting a new, stylish outfit for Priya’s party that night. She’s eager to take him shopping. Before that can happen, though, Dash has another dare from Lily to complete.
He takes Sofia to a little cafe and orders a slice of pie with cheese on top — courtesy of Lily. Surprisingly, it’s delicious. He also tells Sofia a little about the notebook and the mystery girl. Sofia thinks it’s good for him as she thinks he has an ideal girl in his head that he compares all other girls to. She tells him to be careful of putting girls on pedestals because then they fall.

Later, after Dash and Sofia have left, Lily stops by the cafe for her favorite cheesy pie and meets up with her older caroler friends like Roberta. There, she reads the notebook and discovers that Dash plans on revealing his name to her as a Christmas gift. He’s going to leave the notebook with her Aunt Basil E. to be left under her tree on Christmas morning.
At home, Lily starts constructing an adorable sweater for the party with Edgar. She’s designing a Christmas tree sweater complete with lights and fir trimmings. Langston interrupts her construction to offer an apology game of Catan. He tries to make amends for lashing out at her before, and she tells him about her date with Edgar. Langston is impressed, but of course, Lily tries to get advice on how to cancel her date. Langston’s advice is never to cancel a date.
She also tells him that she’s concerned going out with Edgar is cheating on Notebook Boy, but he’s busy reconnecting with an “old friend.” Uh-oh, Edgar says “old friend” is code for an ex-girlfriend. Lily says no, an old friend just means an old friend, like someone from a nursing home. Then she realizes her mistake, and the fact Boomer revealed Dash did have an ex. She gets freaked out and decides to be bold before she can chicken out in her next message to Dash.
Later in Dash and Lily Episode 6, Lily meets with Boomer at Two Boots and asks him about the “old friend” thing. Having not talked to Dash in a few days, Boomer has no idea Sofia is back in town, so he assures Lily that his only ex is thousands of miles away in Brazil. She gives him the notebook and asks him to return to Dash.
Well, cut to Priya’s Christmas party, and Boomer is shocked to see Sofia and Dash looking all couple-y. She’s already speaking for him, dressing him, and generally making him follow her around like a “mute, zombie Ken doll,” as Boomer describes it. After seeing them together, Boomer asks to speak to Dash in private and tells him not to ruin a good thing with Lily because he and Sofia weren’t right for each other. Then he hands him the notebook and says he’s leaving to catch a Christmas-themed double feature.
Dash stays in the spare bedroom for a while to read Lily’s latest entry. She tells him the notebook isn’t enough anymore, and she wants to meet him in person. Dash smiles, although he doesn’t really get a chance to respond just yet as the party gets going.
Just as Boomer leaves, Edgar and Lily arrive at the party, and Edgar immediately abandons Lily to meet up with friends. The guy’s not really a jerk. He’s just kind of an idiot. As Lily wanders listlessly around the party, she and Dash finally meet face-to-face at the snack table. Of course, neither knows who the other is, although he does get to introduce himself as Dash. They immediately have a connection as they chat and joke with each other at the table.
Ironically, Dash makes some abrasive comments about Edgar, not knowing he’s with Lily, and Lily makes a few catty comments about Sofia, not knowing she’s with Dash. Then both Sofia and Edgar show up to collect their respective dates just before Lily can reveal her name to Dash.
In the kitchen, Priya and Sofia instigate a game of Truth or Dare. Priya dares Dash to leave the party with her and “travel back in time.” He agrees. Then Priya gives Lily a truth, “what’s the craziest place you’ve ever hooked up.” Lily is mortified, having never even been kissed before. Priya continues to lower the truth threshold to “make out” then “hold hands,” and Lily leaves, ready to be done with the party altogether.
Edgar catches her on the way out and asks if he can at least get her an Uber. Then he asks her if it’s true she’s never been kissed. He’s surprised because he thinks she’s beautiful. They have a moment, and Edgar leans in to kiss her when he gets a notice on his phone. He tells her the holiday rates for Ubers are way too high, and his dad has him on a tight “budge,” so can she actually get her own Uber? Ugh, this guy is so cringe.
Meanwhile, Sofia takes Dash to the Morgan Museum, the place they had their first date. She knows Dash prefers places like this when they aren’t crowded, so she asked Priya to help her get the place to themselves (Priya’s dad knows someone on the board or something). That’s what she meant by “traveling back in time.”
Together they roam the building looking at the artwork until they reach a quiet room with a red sleigh. Sofia admits to Dash that she wants to be more than friends, and Dash tells her he’s not sure because already she’s speaking for him again, and they’re falling back into old habits. But then Sofia kisses him, and he can’t resist. Dash and Lily Episode 6 ends with them falling back on the sleigh as the camera pans to Dash’s bookbag with Lily’s forgotten red notebook and boot inside.
