Emily isn’t leaving Paris anytime soon! Netflix has given Emily in Paris Season 2 the green light. Find out what we know about the new season.

Emily will have to deal with her Camille/Gabriel love triangle after all as Netflix has decided to move forward with Emily in Paris Season 2, per Variety. The renewal news doesn’t come as much of a surprise considering how popular the rom-com became shortly after debuting on the streaming service.

While the show itself received mixed reviews from critics and some fans seemed to enjoy hate-watching it more than actively enjoying it, there’s no question that Emily in Paris made a splash. We shouldn’t have expected anything less from the mind of Darren Star, who also gave us Sex and the City and Younger.

According to Variety, the Lily Collins starrer even placed above hit shows like Criminal Minds and Grey’s Anatomy on Nielsen’s list of the top ten streaming shows the week it debuted. That’s pretty impressive.

The Emily in Paris Season 2 renewal was announced view a cheeky letter from Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) to Emily’s Chicago Boss Madeline Wheeler (Kate Walsh).

Here is the entirety of the letter:

TO: MADELINE WHEELER c/o: The Gilbert Group

Nous sommes désolées! We are writing to regrettably inform you that Emily Cooper will need to remain in Paris for an extended period of time. Despite her overconfident manner and lack of prior experience in luxury goods marketing, she has nonetheless managed to charm some of our hard-to-impress clients during her short time at Savoir. Call it bonne chance, or American ingenuity – I’m leaning towards the former – her results are impressive.

We hope that by extending her time in Paris, Emily will further the relationships she has already made, delve deeper into our culture, and perhaps pick up a few words of basic French.

We will work in conjunction with you on applying for a work permit on her behalf to prolong her time here. We love having Emily in Paris! But please don’t let her know that.

Cordialement,

Sylvie Grateau

When will Emily in Paris Season 2 debut?

Now that we know Emily in Paris is officially coming back for more episodes, fans will want to find out when to expect the sophomore season on Netflix. Odds are, Netflix will try to release it around the same time in 2021.

As we all know, the pandemic could inhibit that and cause issues with production, so it’s a little too early to give a concrete estimate on the debut date. I’m sure we’ll find out soon when the writers are meant to convene to get started on the next batch of scripts.
