HBO debuts the first look at the upcoming Euphoria Christmas special.
While fans wait for the highly-anticipated follow-up to Zendaya starrer Euphoria, they’ll be gifted with a very special gift this holiday season in the shape of the upcoming Euphoria Christmas special. HBO has finally delivered us the first look at the trailer, per TVLine.
The short spot was shared by the official Euphoria Twitter account and stays pretty secretive about the real plot details. In the clip, we see Rue, played by Zendaya, sitting in a diner as she remembers what happened at the end of the Season 1 finale.
During the dance, a sober Rue got the idea for her and Jules to take off and leave town on a train. But when they arrived at the train station, Rue changed her mind at the last second. Jules, however, did not and left Rue and the town behind. In the final moments of the episode, Rue relapsed into drugs.
Now Rue is clearly regretting her decision to stay behind and missing Jules. The Euphoria Christmas special is the first of two special episodes that will bridge the gap between the first and second seasons. The first episode, which will premiere on December 6, is advertised as “Part 1: Rue,” so I’m assuming the second part will focus on Jules and what happened after she boarded the train.
While it initially appears that Rue is alone at the diner, the final seconds of the video show that her mentor, Ali (Colman Domingo), is there across the table. He wants to know why she called him in the middle of the night. And that’s where the teaser leaves us.
