Early Christmas gift: Euphoria special is streaming early on HBO Max

Euphoria fans are getting an early Christmas gift with HBO Max releasing the first Euphoria special early!
According to a new press release from HBO, the upcoming Euphoria special is getting released earlier than anticipated via HBO Max! Originally scheduled to debut solely on Sunday, December 6 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT, the special will now get an early late-night premiere on Friday, December 4 at 12:00 a.m. ET and Thursday, December 3 at 9:00 p.m. PT. The episode will also air as scheduled on Sunday night.
The upcoming Christmas episode is the first of two special episodes that will bridge the gap between Euphoria‘s first and second seasons. We still don’t have a release date for the show’s official return yet.
In the first special episode, Rue (Zendaya — who recently won an Emmy Award for the role) will deal with the aftermath of Jules leaving at the train station and her subsequent relapse. The first special episode focuses on Rue, and it seems like the second Euphoria special will center on Jules.
The first episode is titled “Trouble Don’t Last Always” and is written and directed by series creator Sam Levin. We don’t yet know the title or premiere date of the second episode, but HBO has said they would be forthcoming. Each of these new episodes has been filmed under COVID-19 guidelines.
Aside from Zendaya’s recent Emmy win, Euphoria also won the awards for Outstanding Contemporary Makeup (Non-Prosthetic) and Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics.
Yesterday we reported that the new Euphoria special had received a special first look teaser. In it, we see Rue hanging out at a late-night diner across from her mentor, Ali (Colman Domingo). He wants to know why she called him in the middle of the night.
