Tiny Pretty Things Episode 6 recap: Cruz continues her investigation
By Mads Lennon
A music video audition creates a significant opportunity for the dancers in Tiny Pretty Things Episode 6.
Professional dancer Sienna Milkens visits Archer to cast three dancers in her upcoming music video in Tiny Pretty Things Episode 6. She ends up choosing Neveah, Bette and Nabil to do the honors. Caleb, who can’t help but gush over Selena the moment he meets her, is upset with Monique for not fighting for him to get a part in the video. She basically tells him to shut up and wait for his moment.
To support Neveah, her mother visits the school and officially meets Monique. McKayla wants to be there to support Neveah’s music video role and is starting to consider staying in Chicago instead of returning to California if she gets parole. At one point, she even suggests that she might get a job at Archer when she sees a posting for janitorial staff. Neveah coolly tells her mother that she doubts Monique would hire an ex-con.

Honestly, I don’t get why Neveah hates her mom. She went to jail protecting her children. I could see them having a difficult relationship, sure, but Neveah’s outright hostility seems weird, especially when you consider how fiercely she guards the music box ballerina her mother gave her.
Tyler later calls Neveah out on her attitude, begging her to let their mother love her. For years she has helped Tyler find a reason to get out of bed in the morning, now someone else needs her help.
Ultimately, Neveah makes amends with her mom and takes her to the local museum she visited in the first episode. While they end on good terms, her mom decides to let Neveah have her life in Chicago while she returns to the west coast.
Sienna’s music video also becomes a nice outlet for Nabil. Having known Sienna from mutual friends in Paris, Sienna takes a liking to Nabil and gives him a starring role in her video as her duet partner. She notices the way he’s closed himself off over grief for Cassie and encourages him to recapture the joy that made him fall in love with the ballet in the first place.
Shane & Bette flirt with new love interests in Tiny Pretty Things Episode 6.
It is heavily implied that the only reason Bette is selected for Sienna’s music video is because Sienna is a fan of Delia’s. Wanting to be on the top of her game, Bette visits Matteo at his home to get more pills. She happens to get there just as his mother comes out and invites her to dinner.
Bette enjoys a genuinely nice evening with Matteo’s family. One that includes home-cooked food, wine, joy and dancing. But when all is said done, she and Matteo share a kiss, and…she still wants her pills. She played along for the evening! Now, where are they? Matteo thinks she actually had a good time, despite claiming she only did it to win favor with him.
Elsewhere, Shane has met a new guy on Grindr named Jason. His “apartment” actually looks like a serial killer’s lair but apparently, it’s only because Jason moved there a few months ago. He and Shane have sex (and more sex, how long would this show be without sex scenes?), and Jason reveals that he works in a high-profile job on a school board, but conveniently doesn’t say which.
Overall, the date goes well, although yet again — it seems like there might be a weird age gap. Shane later runs into Jason at school and is shocked to discover the school board he works for is Archer’s! Also, his name isn’t Jason.
Tiny Pretty Things Episode 6: Cruz continues her investigation.
Cruz’s character and storyline is easily one of the weakest parts of the series. It would have been better to have the students investigate Cassie’s fall than a rogue cop that consistently interviews minors without warrants or probable cause. Do none of these kids have parents around that could cause a scene?
Well, anyway. Cruz is sent an old casting list from when the school was still going to perform Sleeping Beauty. Cassie got the lead female part while Nabil got the part of the prince. However, Shane previously had the lead but his name is crossed out Bette was the runner-up behind Cassie. That gives both Shane and Bette a motive. And both were reported to have had a huge fight with Cassie that night.
Shane tells Cruz that he was with Oren when Cassie fell, but Oren says he was with Bette to cover for her. In reality, he doesn’t know where Bette was and didn’t know she had a falling out with Cassie over the Sleeping Beauty casting. Cruz has to figure out which student is telling the truth and, like almost every other character on this show, she’s being haunted by Cassie — and now Shane and Oren — in nightmare sequences.
When Oren tries to get the truth out of Bette, since he is lying for her, she says they bring out the worst in each other and breaks up with him.
June is assaulted by a guest in Tiny Pretty Things Episode 6.
June’s hostessing job takes a traumatic turn in this episode. At first, she’s excited because she receives a promotion to the VIP lounge courtesy of owner Hadrian Talbot (John Ralston).
She also runs into the British guy, Travis (Luke Humphrey) from the previous episode. Travis invites June outside for some fun and pushes her into the pool. Initially, they flirt, which is already weird because, again, she’s a teenager, but things take an even worse turn when Travis assaults June in the pool. She hurries away after and then quits the VIP lounge. Later, June watches, horrified, as Paige takes her place and walks directly into the lion’s den.
June tells Monique that she’s worried for Paige and doesn’t think the beach club is a safe place for the girls to work. Monique assures her she’ll take care of things and then calls Hadrian to let him know they “have a problem.”
