12. Canceled TV shows: Castle Rock

The psychological horror anthology television series compiled from stories and characters stemming from Stephen King’s universe and his renowned fictional town of Castle Rock, Maine, didn’t make it past two seasons on Hulu. The second and final season heavily focused on the Misery story with Lizzy Caplan taking on the iconic role of Annie Wilkes.

The good thing is, you can still watch the first two seasons of the show without much worry since it is an anthology show and the individual arcs are mostly wrapped up. But because King has such a massive lexicon of stories, it’s unfortunate we won’t get to see the show tackle anymore in the future. Rumors indicated that a third season would potentially cover Salem’s Lot.

11. Canceled TV shows: Dare Me

It actually came as a shock to me and many others when USA Network canceled its edgy teen drama Dare Me after only one season. The series, based on Megan Abbott’s book of the same name, was generally well-received by critics and audiences.

The Hollywood Reporter stated that Dare Me was likely a casualty of the network’s decision to focus more on live and unscripted programming and the occasional event-like miniseries. USA also canceled its other scripted shows like The Purge, Treadstone and Briarpatch.
