6. Canceled TV shows: Lizzie McGuire

When it was first announced that we’d be getting a Lizzie McGuire reboot on Disney Plus, fans were ecstatic. Now seemed like a great time to see Lizzie in her 30s and to reunite the original cast. Everything appeared to be set, with the show going into production and even filming some of the series. But then things hit a snag when show star Hilary Duff and original creator Terri Minsky disagreed with Disney on the show’s direction. Disney wanted the series to be more like Raven’s Home, very PG and geared toward kids.

But both Duff and Minsky wanted at least a PG-13 vibe. Lizzie was going to be in her 30s and would deal with adult situations. Minsky formally departed from the project and production screeched to a halt. Recently, Duff took to Instagram to announce the show was officially dead in the water. Many had hoped Disney would move it to Hulu, but unfortunately, it doesn’t look like any deals could be made.

5. Canceled TV shows: On Becoming a God in Central Florida

This Showtime series delivered an excellent first season, with star Kirsten Dunst playing a character whose life was ruined by a pyramid scheme. But then she becomes part of it and quickly climbs the ladder to the top of the proverbial career ladder. Dunst received plenty of acclaim for the role. Showtime did renew On Becoming a God, but the series became a COVID-19-related casualty and had its renewal reversed.
