Underrated Shows From 2020: Woke
Woke — “Blue Lies Matter” – Episode 108 — Months later, Keef thinks he’s finally arrived in a better place until he’s confronted with an unexpected face from the past. Keef (Lamorne Morris), shown. (Photo by: Liane Hentscher/Hulu) /

1. Hulu: Woke

Now this one is probably one of the most underrated TV shows on the list. A list of underrated shows from 2020 would need to include Woke because we’re pretty sure not enough people have even heard of this show. The Hulu series follows a man named Keith Knight (Lamorne Morris), also known as Keef, who is becoming a successful cartoonist due to his comic strip known as Toast and Butter. The light-hearted story is very popular among many people, and Keef rejects any suggestions that the strip reflects his life as a black man in America.

However, something happens that changes Keef’s perspective on race in general. He has a run-in with some police officers who think he’s a mugger. Eventually, the cops find out that Keef is not who they’re looking for and leave him alone, but he is obviously shaken. He walks into a store and starts picturing his surroundings like one of his cartoons, and the alcohol bottles begin to talk to him.

As time goes on, more objects begin talking to him, including his pen. This all culminates in a very public breakdown and speech in front of a whole convention full of people who boo him. And this is all only the first episode. Woke may not seem the most exciting show initially, but it’s definitely worth checking out.

Keef’s journey is interesting to watch, and viewers will definitely be rooting for him along the way. If you haven’t already, we would definitely recommend watching Woke. You won’t regret it!
