2. New Leadership

With Rick Grimes still missing and Michonne now on her way to hopefully finding him, who will lead the group towards this new era of peace? Alpha and The Whisperers had destroyed so much and it will take time to rebuild and heal but they won’t be able to without some form of direction. We’ve seen Father Gabriel take the mantle with bravery but will The Commonwealth, as mentioned above, make this decision for them? If The Commonwealth is as established as we’re hoping then the group will be encountering the leader and not need to fill those shoes.

But if the group does not go to The Commonwealth should Father Gabriel take the post full time or should it go to another? For that matter should a council be put in place once again instead?

1. Rick Grimes

Last but not least Rick Grimes. Even though the Rick Grimes films will be hopefully focused on our hero, a wonderful way for The Walking Dead to wrap up would be his reappearance in some way, shape or form. Perhaps he can appear on the series finale walking hand in hand with Michonne. Perhaps we hear his voice coming through a radio and the group hears him.

As much as the show has changed so much over the years, Rick Grimes has and always will be the foundation. He is the main character that we followed since the first episode and he set the groundwork for so many other characters to stand up and take charge once he left. Being able to see Rick Grimes alive and well, even for a moment, would be a fantastic way to end the series.
