Gugu Mbatha-Raw

Gugu Mbatha-Raw is set to star in Surface, one of many thrillers currently in development at the streaming service. The series will stem from High Fidelity co-creator Veronica West and Reese Witherspoon’s production company Hello Sunshine. Previously, Mbatha-Raw also appeared in Witherspoon’s series The Morning Show.

We don’t have many details yet on what the plot of Surface will be, but it sounds like it’s going to be one of the most anticipated upcoming Apple TV Plus shows. We do know that Surface will be an eight-part drama series.

Uma Thurman

Speaking of thrillers, per an Apple TV Plus press release we have learned that Academy Award-nominee Uma Thurman will star in Suspicion, a high-paced thriller series about “about the kidnapping of the son of a prominent American businesswoman, played by Uma Thurman.”

According to the synopsis, the son, Leo, is taken from an upmarket hotel in New York. Surveillance footage captures his kidnapping and it goes viral, leading multiple hotel guests to become the prime suspects in the investigation. “But are they guilty of anymore than being in the wrong place at the wrong time?”

The series is based on the Israeli series False Flag and apart from Thurman, it also stars Kunal Nayyar, Noah Emmerich, Georgina Campbell, Elyes Gabel, Elizabeth Henstridge and Angel Coulby.
