9-1-1 Season 4, Episode 4: The Buckley family secret is out!

9-1-1 Season 4 finally revealed the huge Buckley family secret, and no it wasn’t what we were thinking, or at least what I was thinking. As it turns out, Evan Buckley, aka “Buck” wasn’t adopted, but rather his entire family hid the fact that he had an older brother who died.

It was quite a revelation considering I was expecting something else entirely to happen, but it will certainly rattle things up for Buck who has been actively doing therapy.

Honestly, it explains so much about Buck as a person, who has always felt like something is missing from his life. Somewhere in his mind, unknowingly, he knew something was amiss, and he could sense that from his parents and Maddie.

The big secret makes its way out after Maddie invites their parents to come visit out of concern for Buck. She’s aware that he’s been struggling and is hoping her parents might be able to do something about it. It’s an interesting choice to make considering they’re pretty awful parents.

Seeing their interaction with both Maddie and Buck explains so much about the insecurities both of these characters have. We’ve seen it trickle out here and there, and considering how unsupportive their parents are, I totally get it now.

9-1-1 Season 4: What happened to Buck and Maddie’s brother?

Well., we don’t know much at this point besides the fact that he died. That is what Maddie tells Buck after he looks at a picture of “himself” only to realize that the date on the back is from before he was born. Side note: Their parents brought a box of memorabilia for Maddie filled with pictures and mementos, and that is where this picture came from.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that we didn’t learn much more about Buck’s deceased brother considering next week’s episode is appropriately named, “Buck Begins”. Other characters in the series have had episodes dedicated solely to them and their pasts, and now, it’s Buck’s turn.

We will likely get a solid understanding as to who Buck really is, where he comes from, and of course, what the heck happened to his older brother. Did he die in a tragic accident? Did the parents have something to do with it? And why did they decide to keep it a secret from Buck?

I’m hoping 9-1-1 Season 4 answers all these questions and more during next week’s episode because we need answers–like yesterday.

How will this affect Buck? And will he regress after learning his family’s big secret? We have so many questions!
