Have you finished binge-watching Firefly Lane Season 1? If so, are you as frustrated with the season finale as I was? At this point, it should be a crime if Netflix doesn’t give us Firefly Lane Season 2. There are way too many cliffhangers left in the ether to end the show prematurely.

Caution: The following article contains spoilers for Firefly Lane Season 1.

As we know, the end of the first season left us with a lot of unresolved situations. Kate and Tully aren’t friends in the future for some mysterious reason, Johnny might be dead, Sean came out to Julia and Max and Tully seem to be done for good.

Firefly Lane creator Maggie Friedman discussed her decision to end the show with cliffhangers with Entertainment Weekly, and I’m not really satisfied with her reasoning, but I digress. She says she always knew they would end the show with a dramatic fallout between Kate and Tully and Johnny’s fate hanging in the balance.

As for what will happen in Season 2, should it get renewed, Friedman says it would follow a similar format to the first season but doesn’t give up much else.

“Yeah, that would continue to be the structure of the show where we’re jumping around in time. I think there are a lot more stories to tell, if we’re lucky enough to have a season two, of those girls going through high school and what that’s like. They’re only in eighth grade when we leave them. They’ll have a lot of good teen years and fun seventies, growing up times with the great music and the fashions and all of the cultural changes. I think it’s just really interesting. I’d love to keep telling us that those stories and those actors are so good, so of course, I would want to keep seeing them and Beau [Garrett], who plays Cloud, is so great.”

Will Netflix order Firefly Lane Season 2?

Firefly Lane just came out a little over one week ago, so it’s too soon to say whether or not Netflix will renew it. The book series the show is based on is tremendously popular, and the show has dominated social media since its release. Not only that, but Firefly Lane has consistently remained on Netflix’s Top Ten chart. I think there is a good chance it will return.

When will Firefly Lane Season 2 premiere if it gets renewed?

I imagine the show will stick with a similar release timeframe if it does get renewed. Fans can probably anticipate seeing the sophomore season air in January or February 2022, so long as the pandemic doesn’t get in the way.
