Resident Alien Season 1, Episode 3 recap: Harry races against the sheriff to find the real Harry’s body
By Mads Lennon
In Resident Alien Season 1, Episode 3, “Secrets,” a fisherman finds a detached foot in the lake from the real Harry Vanderspeigle’s body. The foot discovery motivates Sheriff Thompson to do whatever it takes to find the body it was attached to, which is bad news for Harry.
Caution: The following article contains spoilers from Resident Alien Season 1, Episode 3.
A random appendage making its way to town isn’t the best news for the local police force. Sheriff Thompson preemptively announces that there might be a serial killer at work in Patience, Colorado, on account of Sam’s death and now this mysterious foot. The townsfolk start to panic, including Harry, who has begun to experience emotional intelligence and human feelings.
His fear encourages him to get a move on finding the real Harry’s body before the sheriff can drain the lake. But the body washes ashore before either Harry or the sheriff can find it in the water. That’s good for Harry, who takes the waterlogged corpse home and shoves it into his basement freezer full of bison meat. That’s taken care of, for now.
Next on Harry’s agenda will be his continued search for missing ship parts and the superweapon designed to destroy all of humankind. However, the road ahead for Harry might start getting more complicated. The episode’s ending sets up two new players that may or may not be on Harry’s side.
Resident Alien Season 1, Episode 3 recap: Who are the mysterious newcomers?
“Secrets” shows us a flashback to the days when Harry first crashlanded on Earth, way before he had a proper disguise. Stranded in the deserts of New Mexico, Harry gives a random equestrian the shock of a lifetime when he walks by in all of his extraterrestrial glory and steals his horse.
Fast-forward to now, and that cowboy hat-wearing rider is peddling his close encounter to anyone who will listen. He’s even planning to write a tell-all book. We meet a nameless duo who listens to the man’s story at a bar. The female half of the pair steals the man’s book and kills him, which shocks her partner. According to him, their orders aren’t to kill, but it appears she might be playing by a different set of rules.
Who are these newcomers? Are they also aliens-in-disguise come to see what the heck happened to their comrade? It doesn’t look like they’re on Harry’s side, as they aim to hunt him down. Perhaps they are galactic bounty hunters? Or just some of Harry’s pissed co-workers come to finish his job for him?
I wonder if Max will be able to see these aliens should they make their way to Patience. It’s possible that this could put him and Harry on the same side for once!
