When is Love, Victor Season 2 going to premiere on Hulu?

Victor Salazar is coming back to our television screens later this spring! Hulu recently announced that the charming Love, Simon spin-off series Love, Victor Season 2 would premiere on Friday, June 11, per TVLine.

Love, Victor Season 2, which will consist of 10 episodes, will pick up at the beginning of Victor’s junior year at Creekwood High School. As you might recall from the Season 1 finale, Victor revealed that he’s gay to his family, and we were left with a significant cliffhanger as to their reactions.

In the sophomore season, we’ll see how Victor’s family struggles to come to terms with Victor’s sexuality and the many difficulties he faces at school as an “openly gay star athlete.” All of this is happening while Victor begins his new relationship with Benji. As for poor Mia, who was left heartbroken when she saw Victor and Benji kissing at the school dance, let’s hope they can eventually makeup and become friends again.

Love, Victor Season 2 was filmed for Hulu instead of Disney Plus.

It’s important to note that Love, Victor Season 2 was filmed with Hulu’s audience in mind. The first season received some criticism for its somewhat subdued and generic exploration of LGBTQIA struggles, which was likely due to the series initially being slated for Disney Plus.

According to co-showrunner Brian Tanen, the fact the series is now completely in Hulu’s wheelhouse means they can tell “more adult stories.”

Tanen previously chatted with TVLine about what fans can expect from Love, Victor Season 2 and beyond, saying, “One of the biggest critiques of representation of gay people in media is that we are sometimes neutered, which is to say we can be the funny sidekick, we can be a sassy best friend, but you rarely see a drama centered on a gay protagonist who has sexual feelings and experiences and gets to be the romantic lead and here we have that opportunity, and we’d love to tell sexier stories. That’s going to be so much more exciting on a network like Hulu, which, since they’ve adopted us, have been so supportive of the show and incredible partners.”

Like the first season, it seems like Love, Victor Season 2 will drop all ten episodes simultaneously rather than airing new episodes weekly as Hulu has done with some of its other series. In Season 1, Love, Simon stars Nick Robinson, and Keiynan Lonsdale stopped by for an episode as their film characters. We don’t yet know if they’ll return (or other film characters) for the new season.

Love, Victor Season 1 is currently available to stream on Hulu. Season 2 premieres on June 11.
