Earlier today, Apple TV+ announced an exciting new star-studded female anthology series called Roar from the creators of Netflix’s hit show GLOW. Among the cast include Emmy, Academy and Golden Globe Award winner Nicole Kidman; Tony, Emmy and Grammy Award winner Cynthia Erivo; Emmy Award winner Meritt Wever; and Golden Globe nominee Alison Brie.

The recent cast announcements are just the start of many more to come! The female anthology series will revolve around darkly comic feminist stories from a book by Cecelia Ahern.

Each half-hour episode of the eight-part first series will be told from a female perspective. The show has been described as “genre-bending” so each segment will likely be distinct from the other. The only downside is that we might not get to see some of these talented actresses share the screen together if they each lead their own installment.

Roar will be the first show to release under GLOW creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mench’s overall deal with Apple. Kidman is also set to executive produce the series alongside Per Saari via Blossom Films.

When can we expect the female anthology series Roar to premiere on Apple TV+?

There isn’t any information in the press release about when the show might go into production. Kidman is already busy with several other projects, so I imagine the series isn’t going to start filming until later this year or early 2022. Either way, I imagine that Apple won’t release it until sometime next year, or possibly later. The streaming service has a very full roster of planned upcoming shows to divvy up throughout their schedule.
