Superman & Lois: The CW series has been renewed for season two

The premiere episode of Superman & Lois soared so high that The CW has officially greenlit a second season. TVLine reports that the network views the series as one of its ‘bonafide hits’, so fans looking forward to more high drama with the first family of DC Comics can now rest easy.

The newest The CWVerse show has already been climbing the ratings. The second episode pipped the season premiere of The Flash in the ratings. While it’s still a surprise that the series has been picked up after only two episodes, Superman & Lois is taking a unique look at the superhero genre.

Starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as the Man of Steel and the world’s greatest reporter, Lois Lane, the series focuses on the super-couple juggling their professional and personal lives. Alongside the couple are their twin sons, Jonathan and Jordan, who are coming to terms with their heritage and the changes in their lives.

The premiere saw the Kent family move back to Smallville, Clark Kent’s hometown after Clark was dealt numerous blows. How will the move from Metropolis to a small town impact the family dynamics?

Superman & Lois: What is the show about?

It looks like the first season of Superman & Lois will address the emerging powers of Jordan Kent. Jordan is an original character made for the show. In the comic books, Jonathan Kent has powers like his father and goes on to become Superboy. Could both sons be revealed to have powers by the end of season one?

Both parents have their own nemeses in the first season—Lois Lane is intent on taking down smarmy capitalist Morgan Edge, while Superman has to battle it out with the Stranger, a man with a vendetta against him.

The visuals have been outstanding, but it’s the original take on the over-saturated superhero genre that is already winning over fans and critics.

We can assume that the main cast of Superman & Lois will appear in Season 2, including Hoechlin as Clark Kent/Superman, Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane, Jordan Elsass as Jonathan Kent, Alex Garfin as Jordan Kent, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang, Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing and Inde Navarrette as Sarah Cushing. Will current season villains Wolé Parks’ Captain Luthor and Adam Rayner’s Morgan Edge make it through the show’s premiere run?
