In celebration of Women’s History Month, we decided to create a list of some of our favorite iconic female characters from period dramas!

It’s an exciting month for women! March is officially Women’s History Month, an annual month to highlight the many fantastic women throughout history that have helped shape our society. In honor of this special month, I decided it would be fun to comb through the many excellent period dramas available to find some of the iconic female characters we all know and love. Whether you’re a fan of Outlander or The Tudors, we’ve touched on numerous characters that have become iconic in their own right, even in their fictional universe or historical retellings.

That said, there are tons of historical dramas out there, so likely this list has left off a few important female characters. At some point in the future, we might need to make a second or even third part that highlights additional iconic female characters from historical dramas. But for now, we’re highlighting these 10 iconic female characters and hoping that you all enjoy reading about them! It might even encourage you to check out a new series or rewatch an old one that you love! Most, if not all, of the series on this list, are currently available to stream.
