2. Shows like The Luminaries: Outlander

Outlander should be right up your alley if you’re a fan of The Luminaries. Both series have an epic romance at the center and span different time periods (although it’s far more significant in Outlander), and each one is based on a novel (in Outlander’s case, a series of novels). Not only is the series long-running, having just gotten renewed for a seventh season, but it’s also compelling and impossible to put down. It’ll definitely give you lots to do while you’re mourning the loss of The Luminaries!

A former British Army nurse, Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), is inexplicably transported to 1743 after visiting a mystical circle of stones while honeymooning in Scotland with her husband. Transported to a bygone era, Claire suddenly finds her life threatened in this disarming new place. She finds herself saved by a handsome Scots warrior named Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and falls in love, later trapped between two very different lives.

Outlander is streaming on Netflix and Starz.
